2 Sold-out shows @ Fantasia for The Killer, Interviews and Reviews!
July 22, 2008
On July 18th ans 21st, The Killer (Le Tueur) could be seen by the Fantasia Audience. Screening twice in the J.A. DeSève Theatre, the film enjoyed sold-out rooms both times.
Grégoire Colin, the actor playing Dimitri Kopas (aka the killer) was present at both screenings to introduce the films and answer questions from the crowd afterwards. We would particularly like to thank Simon Laperrière, programmer at the Fantasia Festival, who added Le Tueur to the Fantasia line-up.

That film actually just won the Best Live-action Short Prize, ex-aequo with I Love Sarah Jane, from Fantasia’s International Short Films Official Jury.

Evokative Films acquires the Canadian rights of ADRIFT IN TOKYO!
July 16, 2008
Evokative Films just made a deal with Stylejam for the Canadian distribution rights of the Japanese film ADRIFT IN TOKYO (TENTEN)! After two sold-out screenings at Fantasia (including one in the Hall Theatre and another one in the J.A. DeSève Theatre), ADRIFT will soon see a limited release in theatres, before streeting in DVD in a few months. I’m extremely happy to have added this charming film to Evokative’s budding catalogue.Nicolas Archambault, one of Fantasia’s programmers, perfectly described this film: “Funny, touching and devilishly smart, this pedestrian road trip reveals another side of Tokyo…”
Todd Brown from Twitchfilm also called it “a meandering, quirky and surprisingly beautiful piece of work that perfectly balances humor and emotion.”
And Russell Edwards at Variety called it a “droll charmer”.
For more information, please visit the film’s page on Fantasia’s web site! Fantasia’s web site.
The film also previously had its North American Premiere at the New York Asian Film Festival. You may consult their description of the film here.
ADRIFT IN TOKYO also played at the Neufchatel International Fantastic Film Festival, in Switzerland, at the beginning of July.

Le Tueur @ Fantasia!
July 06, 2008
You’ll be able to see Le Tueur (The Killer) at the Fantasia Festival on July 18th at 7:45pm and on July 21st at 7:30 in the J.A. De Sève. What's more, You’ll be able to meet Gregoire Colin, the actor who took on the role of Kopas the killer!Simon Laperrière's take on LE TUEUR in the Fantasia program (translated by Rupert Bottenberg): “The spirit of the great Jean-Pierre Melville permeates this unforgettable film noir, the feature-film debut for director Cédric Anger. Modest in action, LE TUEUR is rich in suspense, inciting a state of red alert in its audience, captive to its constant twists and ricochets. Carrying over the example of the likable PETIT LIEUTENANT, which he co-wrote with Xavier Beauvois, the director zooms in on the troubling psyches of his larger-than-life characters. To inhabit them, Anger sought out a host of grand figures of current French cinema. Gilbert Melki, as Leo, conjures a character as tortured Daniel Day-Lewis of THERE WILL BE BLOOD. He’s contrasted perfectly against Grégoire Colin as the assassin whose sentiments are threatening to overwhelm the glacial front his line of work demands. Between the two is Mélanie Laurent, the femme fatale, bringing a feminine luminosity to this somber world of men. The perfect blend of genre flick and auteur cinema, LE TUEUR finds Cédric Anger reaching for the ranks of Olivier Assayas.”

June 11, 2008
This is Evok.Evok likes to evoke Evokative Films.
Sometimes, Evok watches a spooky film and he gets scared.
Some other times, Evok finds films can be really funny.
Evok is really proud, because he’s now a star. He’ll be in Evokative Films’ first ever ad, in this year’s Fantasia International Film Festival Official Program!
Wow!
Evok asked us to evoke Antonin Brault at Upperkut, because he comes from his brains.
