Leading a lazy life, Fumiya has been a university student for 8 years and owes money to loan sharks. One day, a man named Fukuhara comes to collect the loan, which Fumiya cannot pay. So Fukuhara makes a proposition: He will cancel the debt as long as Fumiya agrees to walk with him across Tokyo to the police station of Kasumigaseki, where he intends to turn himself in for a crime he deeply regrets. Not having much choice, Fumiya accepts the deal. Thus begins their journey which will lead them to various unusual encounters, most of all with themselves. Based on the original novel by Naoki Prize winner Yoshinaga Fujita comes a fascinating, humorous and wildly clever film that is sure to charm you.

Awards
Best Script (Satoshi Miki) / Special Mention (Jo Odagiri and Tomokazu Miura) – Fantasia International Film Festival
Best Supporting Actor (Tomokazu Miura) - Kinema Junpo Awards

Festivals
Udine Far East Film Festival 2008
New York Asian Film Festival 2008
Neuchâtel International Fantasy Film Festival 2008
Fantasia International Film Festival 2008
Raindance Film Festival 2008
Toronto Reel Asian Film Festival 2008 - Closing Film
Ottawa Film Festival / Festival du film de l’Outaouais 2009
Edmonton International Film Festival

Reviews
****
Eye Weekly, Hour, Canoë, eFilmCritic, The Japan Times

*** 1/2 (on 4)
The Globe and Mail, The National Post, The Toronto Star, Cinema Strikes Back

“...one of the five best films in the world for 2008.
Black, a Senegalese bank-robber born and raised in France, is getting over a disastrous heist in which he lost nearly all of his men. He’s seriously thinking of going straight when his cousin Lamine calls him from Dakar: a briefcase full of contraband diamonds has just been deposited in the bank where he works. Thinking this will be an unbelievably easy coup, Black assembles a new gang and quickly flies to Africa, where he’s never set foot. What they haven’t planned, however, is that they are far from being the only ones interested in that briefcase. The corrupt director of the bank, an arm dealer suffering from suppurating psoriasis, a gang of mercenaries from Chechnya and an Interpol agent are also set to get their hands on those diamonds. With a funky soundtrack, BLACK delivers a heist film filled with action and peppered with comedy and mysticism.

Award
Bronze Public Prize - Best American or European Film - Fantasia International Film Festival 2009

Festivals
Avignon Film Festival 2008
SXSW presents Fantastic Fest at Midnight - SXSW Film Festival 2009
Seattle International Film Festival 2009
Fantasia International Film Festival 2009
Toronto After Dark Film Festival 2009
Karlovy Vary Fresh Film Fest 2009
London Film4 FrightFest 2009

Reviews
****
Eye Weekly

"Kitchen-sink filmmaking at its most sublime... ...a righteously bombastic musical soundtrack... ...the film is a rolling ball of smooth energy...
On Mother’s Day in Taipei, Chen-Mo makes a dinner date with his wife, hoping to improve their estranged relationship. While buying a cake on his way home, a car double-parks next to his, preventing his exit. For the entire night, Chen-Mo searches for the owner of the car and encounters a succession of strange events and eccentric characters: an old couple who have lost their only son and are living with their precocious granddaughter; a one-armed barbershop owner cooking fish-head soup; a mainland Chinese prostitute trying to escape her pimp’s cruel clutches; and a Hong-Kong tailor embroiled in debt and threatened by underground loan sharks. Combining the different flavours of drama, comedy, and noir film, PARKING interweaves stories to create a moving and darkly funny film, served up in a superb cinematography that will have you transfixed to the screen.

Awards
Golden Horse Award, Best Art Direction: Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival 2008
FIPRESCI Critics Award: Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival 2008
Best New Talent: Hong Kong Asian Film Festival 2008
Audience Favourite Film: Hong Kong Asian Film Festival 2008
Most Inspired Film Director: !f Istanbul International Independent Film Festival 2009

Festivals
Cannes International Film Festival 2008 – Un Certain Regard
Montreal World Film Festival 2008
Bangkok International Film Festival 2008
Vancouver International Film Festival 2008
Pusan International Film Festival 2008
Hong Kong Asian Film Festival 2008
Stockholm International Film Festival 2008
Thessaloniki International Film Festival 2008
Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival 2008 – Opening Film
!f Istanbul International Independent Film Festival 2009
Spokane International Film Festival 2009
Bigpond Adelaide Film Festival 2009
Osaka Asian Film Festival 2009
Ottawa Film Festival / Festival du film de l’Outaouais
Bradford International Film Festival 2009
Taiwan London Cinefest 2009
Barcelona Asian Film Festival 2009
Silk Screen Film Festival 2009

Reviews

"... the beauty of this well-crafted flight of dark-tinted fancy is how comfortable it makes us feel on the edge.

On a drunken night out with his friends, a broken-hearted young man gets swayed into going to the countryside with them for a getaway. But when he gets there, he finds that not only have none of them have showed up, but the tiny seaside town is shuttered - no shops are open, no tourists are around, the beach is freezing, and there’s no cell phone signal. Unable (and reluctant) to return to Seoul, he finds himself in the company of some very unusual locals and, subject to the rigid rules of Korean drinking culture, on an increasingly strange odyssey nursing a never-ending hangover. Ushering a new era of independent filmmaking in South Korea, DAYTIME DRINKING is a comedy in the spirit of STRANGER THAN PARADISE and SIDEWAYS - but with a distinctly Korean twist.

Awards
JJ-Star Award / Audience Critics' Award - Jeonju International Film Festival
Special Mention of the Jury / NETPAC Award - Locarno International Film Festival 2008
INALCO Jury Award - Vessoul Asian Film Festival 2009

Festivals
Jeonju International Film Festival 2008
Locarno International Film Festival 2008
Toronto International Film Festival 2008
Thessaloniki International Festival 2008
Stockholm International Film Festival 2008
Vessoul Asian Film Festival 2009
Asian Hot Shots Berlin 2009
International Film Festival Rotterdam 2009
SXSW Film Festival 2009
Hong Kong International Film Festival 2009
Wisconsin Film Festival 2009
Singapore International Film Festival 2009
FilmFest DC 2009
Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival 2009
Maryland Film Festival 2009
Little Rock Film Festival 2009
Seattle International Film Festival
FilmFest DC 2009
CineSol Film Festival 2009 (Texas, USA)
Indianapolis International Film Festival 2009
Fantasia Festival 2009

Reviews

**** Norman Wilner, NOW Magazine

“A wonderfully bizarre comedy of error… It is a consistently rewarding balancing act between humour and hopelessness, absurdity and reality.
Gang-pae is a mobster who dreams of becoming an actor. Soo-ta is a star actor who tends to have a bit of a bad attitude, especially with his co-stars, who keep getting beaten up on the set. Now nobody wants to work with him and it's threatening his current film's production. A chance encounter brings the two together and Soo-ta convinces Gang-pae to come and play the role of, well, a mobster. Gang-pae agrees with the condition that the film's fight scenes have to be real, no pretend bullshit. The table is set for a movie-within-a-movie that gets reality and fiction muddled-up, delivers great characters and packs the punches.

Festivals
NYAFF 2009
Fantasia Festival 2009
Toronto After Dark Film Festival 2009

Lars and Johannes are brothers with very little in common. Johannes is a high-powered lawyer with a beautiful wife and two children; Lars is a truck driver and a drunken brute who beats his girlfriend. Having returned to his hometown in the country, Johannes hopes for a less hectic, more genuine lifestyle. But trouble is underfoot when Lars runs over a woman with his truck. He sees only one way out: put the blame on Alain, a Bosnian refugee with impaired mental functions. But when Lars, the God-fearing husband of the victim, and his friends close in on the Bosnian, Johannes stands up for the man and shelters him. Undeterred, the violent, drunken horde makes their way to Johannes´ secluded house, where the family and Alain fear for their lives. When words no longer suffice to contain the madness, a siege begins, in which unchained anarchy dictates a scenario of terror…
DELIVER US FROM EVIL (FRI OS FRA DET ONDE) is a piercing insight into human nature driven berserk.

Awards
Best Film Award in the Noves Vision section of the Sitges Film Festival

Festivals
Germany Fantasy Filmfest
Toronto International Film Festival
Halifax Atlantic Film Festival
Lund International Fantastic Film Festival
Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalunya
Hamptons International Film Festival
Pusan International Film Festival
Ravenna Nightmare Film Festival
AFI Washington European Union Film Showcase
Gdansk All About Freedom Festival
Tallin Black Nights Film Festival
Ciné Nordica Paris
Istanbul International Film Festival

Reviews
''Do I think Canada's Evokative Films made a wise choice yesterday by picking up rights to Ole Bornedal's DELIVER US FROM EVIL?
Gunther Strobbe is a 13 years old boy who lives in his grandmother's house in a small Belgian town with his alcoholic father and three uncles. Life in the household is clearly dysfunctional, yet it's hard to condemn the Strobbes. Their hearts are in the right place – it's just that they can't seem to help turning everything around them into an unmitigated disaster. The Strobbes enter drinking contests, ride bicycles naked, teach vulgar songs to little girls and end up in hospital, then head right back to the bar the next day. Gunther is an observer in this broken home that reeks of cigarette smoke, spilled beer and sweat-stained clothes. He participates in his drunken uncles' shenanigans only to fit in, hiding his true passion for writing. The Strobbes will make you laugh your eyes out and cry out loud.

Awards
Special Mention from the Art Cinema Award Jury - Cannes Director’s Fortnight
Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography - 2009 Hamptons Film Festival
Audience Award in the Bratislava International Film Festival
Selected to represent Belgium in the race for the Best Foreign Language Film of the Year at the Oscars 2010
#1 box-office success of Belgium for 2009, with 426 000 tickets sold

Festivals
Director’s Fortnight - Cannes Film Festival
Munchen Fim Festival
Melbourne International Film Festival
Toronto International Film Festival
Bangkok International Film Festival
Hamptons Film Festival
Ghent International Film Festival - Opening Film
Warsaw International Film Festival
Pusan International Film Festival
Festival du Nouveau Cinema in Montréal
Warsaw International Film Festival
Mar Del Plata Film Festival
Bergen International Film Festival
Mostra Internacional de Cinema de Sao Paulo
Bratislava International Film Festival
Portland International Film Festival
Hong Kong International Film Festival

Reviews
“Van Groeningen has here created a story about family, about fatherhood and masculinity that is deeply troubling but alsovery honest and entertaining.
